I'm very happy with my purchase. It takes up quite a bit of counter space. Note: some toasters don't let you do this or have a cancel button--I learned the hard way with other brands. This toaster is also pricey, but I was so frustrated with other toasters, I was willing to pay a bit more to get what I wanted. This is the best toaster I've ever owned.
I feel like it's worth the money. One of the downsides to the 4 slice version is the size. The bagel function is superior because the bagels don't get stuck, it only browns the cut side of the bagel unlike other toasters, and it has a small drawing on the toaster to indicate how to place the bagel in it. I've owned many toasters (Cuisinart, Proctor Silex, and Oster to name a few) and did a ton of research before buying this one because I was tired of getting partially burned toast and bagels. This toaster lets you pop up the toast early if you aren't sure which setting to use yet.
I'd recommend the 2 slice version unless you need to make lots of toast at once.
I won't starve while I wait. A little slow, but that doesn't bother me at all. Amazon is reliable in their ads. Just what I'd been looking for. Looks great, works great. And the toast comes out perfect every time when you set it on the proper number.
Well if you try to get the cut side of the Bagel somewhat brown, then the back side comes out black or I should say burnt. It definatly not a chep toaster, which is O.K. I think it's a terrible design. So we thought we would try a toaster that wouldtoast not only slices of bread but also Bagels, which we like a lot. We purchased the Stainless Steel one which is nice looking, too bad it's such a lousy toaster. and it is advertised as a toaster that cnn toast Bagels.
Not very happy with this productat all. Our toaster oven which we had for years finally quit. We bought the Kitchen Aid brand because we have a coffee maker of that brand which we like very much. What we have to do is put the Bagel in at a lower setting, wait for it to pop up, take them out and turn them180 degrees to toast the other half.
I've found the holy grail of toasters which happens to be this one. I did my research and found this toaster with all its incredible ratings. I've seen the Dualit (swanky w/the name and all) in action and tried toasting on it, at a friends'. The first bagel was heaven. Every morning I must have 1/2 bagel and a cuppa joe.
I no longer have to worry about anything being burnt or over or under toasted. I don't buy based on "name" stuff. I've had many a toaster, and a toaster oven. I am a bagel fan. No toaster comes close to this one.
I was not disappointed.
I especially like the way it toasts as bread has a crispiness on the outside and a warm chewy center on the inside. There are so few effective toasters on the market. My rating of 2 stars is a tentative grade and probably should be upgraded. It took about 2 weeks to get the replacement and ever since we have been pleased. It is hard to rate this product and the 2 stars are misleading. I also like how anything I toast has the right browning for my tastes. However, it is a good toaster for the money but not in the league of the KitchenAid.
It made the toast stiff on the inside as well as the outside. My two star rating is based on my initial experience and the fact that we have had the replacement KitchenAid for two weeks. It worked fine for one day and then went kaput--the mechanism that allows you to push down and release the toast failed on the second day. I love toast and toasted type of goodies. Why is that. The hassle free warranty from KitchenAid allowed me to return the toaster without too much "hassle" on my part.
It is expensive but the stainless steel look is a plus on the countertop (an important factor with my wife) and it is heavy and very easy to use. This is not a long enough period to really evaluate a toaster, and if the first toaster worked like the present one I would give it a 5 star rating. I don't usually give reviews but toasters are an overlooked kitchen tool. The KitchenAid toaster we received from Amazon.com turned out poorly. We did have the Target toaster designed by Michael Graves, which toasted fine on the outside but it did not have the warm chewy center.
